Jesus said, man cannot live on bread alone, but from every word that proceeds from the mouth

of God. You're listening to Daily Truth. The vast majority of these characteristics that we

find as qualifications for elders are actually prescribed elsewhere in other portions of

scripture for every believer,

for believers who are not elders. So really, we could say, I think the easiest way to present this

is that we should all be seeking spiritual maturity. We should all be seeking to grow in these

areas, whether you are a pastor, an elder or not, and really the one

distinction, if we were to say it in maybe the simplest form, we could say that the primary

difference between an elder and other Christians is simply this, that an elder must be

spiritually mature, and a Christian should be spiritually mature.

I think that's perhaps the simplest and most faithful way to present it.

So what we're going to be working through in this text, Lord willing, over the next couple of weeks,

keep that in mind. An elder must be and a Christian should be.
