And I want to direct your attention to 1st Peter, chapter 5, verse 8.

The scripture says, be sober-minded, be watchful.

That is, alert.

Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion,

seeking someone to devour.

If you've ever watched planet Earth

or anything on the nature channel,

who do lions devour?

Is it not those who have been separated from the herd? Are the people of God not called

the flock of God? If the devil is a lion who prows, seeking whom he may devour, and the flock of God is, in fact, a flock, or perhaps a herd. Then who are those

individuals who stand the highest likelihood of being devoured by the devil, if not those who are

separated from the flock? When Paul says, I have handed these men over to Satan, he is saying, I have removed

them from the church. For for a man to be removed from the church of God is to be handed over to Satan.

It is as though he has painted on his chest a large target, begging and pleading with Satan

to come and devour him.

There is safety and security among the people of God.
