In chapter 4, verse 12, let no one despise you. Remember, Timothy is a young man, and not just a young man, but he is a young pastor in a local church at Ephesus.

And Paul writes to him and says, young man, young pastor, let no one despise you for your youth.

And Paul, of course, is writing this arbitrarily.

Nobody would ever despise a pastor simply because he's young.

I'm sure Timothy never experienced that,

and Paul just wanted to throw it in there just in case.

I'm being facetious and sarcastic.

He was being despised.

Not because he wasn't qualified, but simply because of his age.

Because there's always an inclination for the world that hates God, but even in the church.

Even with those who truly are regenerate Christians, because of remaining sin,

there will always be an inclination to try somehow, to somehow accomplish the task of being able to write off the word of God,

especially those portions of it which can take. And if we cannot write off the word,

but we could certainly, if not the message, find something wrong with the messenger.
