Ministry is about multiplication, and therefore faithful ministers must think in terms of generations,

and therefore faithful ministry is often slow.

Many in the American church today fully embrace the concept that ministry is about multiplication.

Perhaps the problem is that they see rightly that ministry is about multiplying ourselves.

And in multiplying ourselves, the goals that we've multiply Christ, that Christ who is in us,

as we mature in Christ by the work of the Holy Spirit and His grace and sanctification,

that we might begin to reproduce that in others.

As Paul says, follow me as I follow Christ.

And so the church, I believe, at large,

rightly acknowledges the reality that ministry is about multiplication. I think perhaps the

problem is that although the church recognizes that faithful ministry focuses on multiplication,

they somehow assume that multiplication is going to be quick. They somehow assume that a person would be able to

grow themselves in Christ-likeness quickly and then reproduce that same quality of Christ's likeness in the lives of others quickly.
