a mighty fortress, fall, and then Israel celebrating the initial victory of the defensive outer walls falling,

but then running them down, pursuing the victory, and putting all the inhabitants of Jericho,

that is the men, women, and children, and we'll get to this in just a moment, putting all

them to death because God decreed it. God decreed it.

Now, the Word of the Lord, that which is inscripturated, that which you and I are called to follow.

The secret things belong to the Lord, but those which he has revealed belong to us and our children

forever. You and I, as New Testament Christians, we are called

to follow the script. We do not have a divine decree that is coming outside of the means of

scripture. But Joshua did. Joshua and Israel were receiving divine decrees from the Lord, which he confirmed by incredible

supernatural signs and wonders. And so they were called to do certain things that in scripture,

for instance, we have the verse that the children shall not be put to death for the sins of the

father. God said this. This is his law.

But as we saw last week, God never intended to bind himself in Scripture and the Old Testament

Torah, the Mosaic law, to bind himself in such a way that he could not issue a divine decree

that might say otherwise.

However, there's also a practical reason, a practical reason, not just that God is God and he

can decree what he wills, but at a practical level, we do not merely have Israel putting to death
