The UK's vaccine rollout has been heralded as a success in pandemic

policy, but not everyone is as enthusiastic as we all might wish. Vaccine confidence is routinely up to 20% lower in black and Asian and

minority ethnic communities. Up to 72% of black people are unlikely to take the COVID vaccine with Pakistani and Bangladeshi

individuals the next most hesitant ethnic groups.

And vaccine hesitancy is a matter of life or death. Black people and Pakistani and Bangladeshi men are nearly twice as likely to die from COVID than white people.

The number of B-A- in intensive care is three times that

of their proportion of the population. A new research identifies ethnicity and socioeconomic deprivation as long-covered risk factors.
