Good morning, Bridgetown. My name is Peter and this is the Bridgetown Daily for Wednesday, January 27th.

As we find ourselves in the middle of the final week of Bridgetown's 31-day prayer initiative,

I wanted to talk about one way of prayer that completely changed my prayer life and the way that I pray.

15 years ago, my best prayer was something like,

God blessed me today and show me what I need to know.

Or, when I would be asked to pray for another, would be something like,

Lord, help them please.

Now, the Father does hear the sound of our voices and He honors these prayers as non-specific as they are.

I knew that, but I felt like something was missing that these prayers were somehow incomplete and I wanted more.

Some of you may know my amazing wife, Stephanie. If you have ever been prayed for by her, you were changed.

The Holy Spirit often pierces the hearts of those she prays for.

I would wish that my prayers were like that, effectual into the heart.

I would tell myself that only certain people could pray that way.

Well, that was a lie that was effective in keeping me from praying with desire and conviction for years,

until 2007. That year, we attended an International Messianic Worship Conference in Jerusalem.

We knew that people in charge of organizing the prayer for those at the conference.

So they asked us to be on the prayer team because they knew of Stephanie's gift of prayer and assumed I would have the same.

I tried so hard to back out of this. I told them, you know, actually it's my wife that's the amazing person of prayer.

But they wouldn't let me. It was there in a caboot on the western edge of Jerusalem that I found a way to pray that has given me confidence and joy and closeness to the Lord ever since.

It was this. The leaders said, if you don't know what to pray, pray a scripture or two.

You can't ever go wrong with that kind of prayer because the scriptures are truth.

Second Timothy 316 says, all scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training and righteousness.
