Good morning. In the news this morning, five people were killed and dozens of others were injured in a shooting at an LGBT nightclub in Colorado officials say.

The suspect identified as 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich allegedly began shooting as soon as he walked into Club Q in Colorado Springs late Saturday night.

Colorado Springs Police Chief Adrian Valdez told reporters during a news conference Sunday morning.

At least two people whom authorities described as heroes then confronted Aldrich and fought with him,

which saved more lives, police said. At least two guns, including a long gun, were recovered from the scene.

The shooting is being investigated as a hate crime. In addition to the five victims who died,

at least 25 people were injured. According to the

FBI of the hate crimes reported in 2020, more than 20% of victims were targeted because of their

sexual orientation or gender identity. That's more than one in five of all hate crime victims.

Thousands of dollars were stolen from a home in Mayfair during a home invasion.

Police say masked suspects who were armed with a gun entered the home in the 3,300 block of Ryan Avenue at about 12.50 a.m. on Monday.

The victims told police they were locked in a room at one point during the invasion.

The suspect made off with $40,000.

Witnesses are being interviewed by police for a better description of the suspect.

No injuries were reported.

AAA anticipates more than 54.6 million Americans will travel for Thanksgiving.

That's a 1.5 increase over 2021 and 98% of pre-pandemic volumes.
