Good morning. In the news this morning, a Delaware County mayor is facing charges after he

allegedly attacked a council member during a contentious meeting earlier this month. Darby Borough Mayor

Darren Burrell is accused of punching councilmember Omar Thompson knocking him to the ground during

a November 2nd meeting. 41-year-old Burrell turned himself into police on assault charges and was later

released on bail but order to stay away from Thompson.

Thompson is said to have gone to Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital for dizziness after the alleged assault.

He offered no comment on the incident during a Wednesday council meeting.

His attorney claims a barrage of expletives and homophobic slurs were hurled at Thompson by the mayor during the assault.
