Good morning in the news this morning.

A high school student killed two classmates, wounded three others, and then shot himself in the head Thursday morning to high school in Santa Clarita, California. The suspect who turned 16 on Thursday was hospitalized in grave condition. The shooting was first reported at 7.38 a.m. and then took 16 seconds. Moments after shots rang out, first responders on the scene were three off-duty law enforcement personnel who had just dropped their own children off at the school. They saw children fleeing the campus and immediately went inside to find out what was happening. Six students, including the gunmen, were found in the quad area, suffering from gunshot wounds. The first off-duty officer to arrive at the quad saw a 45 caliber semi-automatic handgun at the

scene and determined it was safe enough to begin providing first aid. Their actions definitely

saved lives. My hats off to them said the Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villo Nueva.

The school resource deputy was also on the scene moments later, he said. All six students

were transported to hospitals where

two of them, a 16-year-old girl and a 14-year-old boy were later pronounced dead. A seventh person

who was transported to a hospital for a medical issue or injury that was not caused directly

by the gunfire. The surviving victims were described as two girls, ages 14 and 15 and a boy

14 years old. The boy was released from the Henry

Mayo Hospital. Delaware officials have now classified the death of a teacher whose body was found

in the Brandywine River as a homicide. 50-year-old Susan Ledyard of Wilmington was found in the

river near Church Street Bridge on July 23rd. Officials said Thursday that she died of a result of blunt force trauma and drowning.

Troopers responded to Walker's Mill Road in the area of Rising Sun Lane Bridge for a report of a suspicious vehicle on the morning of July 23rd.

Police said when they arrived, they found an unoccupied black 2016 Honda Civic, which came back registered to Susan Ledyard.

This location where the vehicle was located and where the Rising Sun Lane Bridge spans,

the Brandywine River, is approximately three miles up river from where Susan's body was recovered.
