Good morning in the news this morning. The FBI on Thursday said it received credible information about a broad threat to synagogues in New Jersey,

a warning that prompted some municipalities to send extra police officers to guard houses of worship.

The nature of the threat was vague. The FBI Newark Office released a statement urging synagogues to take all security precautions to protect your community and facility, but wouldn't say anything about who made the threat or why. The alert was posted after officials discovered an online threat directed broadly at synagogues in New Jersey, a law enforcement official said. The posting did not target any specific synagogue by name. The Jewish Federation of

South Jersey, which helps the security of synagogues, released a statement saying we are deeply troubled

by the recent increase of anti-Semitism across our country and we condemn hate speech in all of

its forms. We are fortunate to live in a thriving Jewish community and in times like this, we stand

together.

Public warnings about nonspecific threats against Jewish institutions made by a variety of

groups, including Christian supremacist and Islamic extremists, aren't unusual in the New York City

metropolitan area and may many turn out to be false alarms, but the area has also seen deadly attacks.

Prosecutors in Montgomery and Bucks counties announced the dismantlement of a gun trafficking

ring that they allege put over 30 illegal weapons on the streets using so-called straw

purchasers to buy firearms from local gun shops.

The Robinson brothers were charged in the case.

County prosecutors announced during a joint press conference on Thursday.
