Good morning. In the news this morning, a Philadelphia Department of Human Services workers

facing charges in connection to the death of a toddler who police say died from blunt force trauma while being

cared for over the summer. 25-year-old Jende Mawesi surrendered to police on Monday and was

charged with third-degree murder, involuntary manslaughter, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Charges stem from the death of the three-year-old.

Hope Jones, who investigators say died in early July while in the care of Keanu Casey.

Casey was previously charged with third-degree murder, aggravated assault of a child, and endangering the welfare of a child.

A Philadelphia medical examiner later determined that the cause of Jones's death was blunt

forced trauma.

The district attorney's office later described the deadly injuries inflicted on Jones as extensive

and disturbing.

They also confirmed that Jones was placed with Casey because she knew the child's family

in some way.

Authorities say the social worker contacted by this,

contracted by the city department of human services was assigned to monitor Jones

placement in Casey's residence.

A judge temporarily stopped the closure of Delaware County Memorial Hospital.

The building's current owners want to turn the hospital into a behavioral health facility.
