Good morning in the news this morning.

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck Puerto Rico before dawn on Tuesday,

the largest in the series of quakes that have struck the U.S. territory in recent days and caused heavy

damage in some areas. Puerto Rico's power authority said on Twitter that one of the country's

main power plant, which sits near the epicenter, had been damaged, but officials expect to restore power

to the island later Tuesday.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake hit it at about 424 a.m. just south of the island at a shallow depth of 10 kilometers.

It initially gave a magnitude of 6.6 but later adjusted it to the 6.4.

It said that the quake was followed by a string of aftershocks from 5.6 to 4.5 in magnitude. A tsunami alert was initially issued for Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, but that was later canceled. This is a pretty substantial activity, you know, especially, and you just don't think of Puerto Rico that way. Yeah. Their infrastructure is sort of battered from all the hurricanes. It's not good. Communications are down for much of the island, so there's not an official report yet on damage or injuries.

During Mayor Jim Kenny's second term inauguration speech Monday, he announced an expansion

of the city's street sweeping pilot program to every neighborhood and commercial corridor

by the year 2023.

And for cleaner streets, we will continue to ramp up dumping enforcement and build on our successful

sweeping pilot program by expanding the street cleaning to every neighborhood and commercial

corridor by the year 2023.

Yes, you heard that right, he said, every neighborhood, which will require folks to move

their cars.
