Good morning in the news this morning. Authority say a man who confessed to killing his father in Yaden, Delaware County, drove to Lower Marion Township, Montgomery County, where he allegedly dumped the body

by the side of the road. Friends and acquaintances say it was no secret that Robert Colt

the third was deeply troubled. They say he'd previously threatened to kill them on social media.

Colt was also no stranger to police. A 30-year-old Colt had little to say to reporters Monday as he was taken into custody after confessing to the grisly murder of his father, 59-year-old Robert Colt Jr. authorities say the two were having an argument over a small amount of money at their Yaden home on Providence Road when he began hitting his father over the head

multiple times with a hammer. The Delaware County, yeah, the Delaware County DA said he repeatedly

hit his father in the head with the hammer. He then, while his father was still alive on the

floor, went to the kitchen, got a knife, and repeatedly stabbed his father. He allegedly confessed to

police that he tried to dismember his father with an electric saw but was unsuccessful. Instead, he took his father's clothes off, put a fresh t-shirt on him, carried the body out of the house, and buckled his father's body into the passenger seat of the car. He then drove 20 minutes to the 1,600 block of Spring Mill Road in Gladwin, where he dumped the body. The area is known to them, police say, because the victim liked to go kayaking in the area. The body was found about 726 a.m. on Saturday morning. On Sunday, police say the victim's girlfriend and her brother called authorities to report that Robert Colt Jr. was missing. They gave detectives a photo of the victim, which was used to identify the body. Investigators say Colt Jr. died of blunt force, trauma, and stab wounds.

Kat, do you have in the story that he was schizophrenic?

Yeah, the victim's brother says that Robert Colt III had been diagnosed with paranoid

schizophrenia in early age.

He was under the care of a psychiatrist and had been admitted to the psych ward at Mercy

Fitzgerald Hospital several times.

Recently, the family learned that he had stopped taking his medications.

He previously had a number of altercations with his father in their home in Yaden.

It's bizarre, man, because these people, the schizophrenics and so on and so forth, sometimes can get the feeling that their medication is poisoning them. Yeah. And to them, it's the wrong thing to do. It happens a lot. And then they go off of it. And then they have, you know, these voices and these things telling them to do these horrible things. Yeah. Or they feel that they're, okay, I don't need it anymore. I've got it under control. Yeah. Yeah. So I had a friend and I don't hear from him anymore, but he has schizophrenia and his family says the same thing. He starts to feel better. And so he thinks, oh, I don't need the medication. I'm okay and goes off it and then immediately, you know, falls back into the.

Years ago, a friend of mine, her husband had this and but was acutely aware of the importance of staying on the meds.

And almost had fail safes.
