Good morning in the news this morning. Hurricane Adelia strengthened to a dangerous category

four storm Wednesday morning as it steams towards Florida's Big Ben region and threatens to unleash life-threatening storm surges and rainfall.

Adalia is projected to come ashore early Wednesday as a category four storm with sustained winds of at least 130 miles per hour in the lightly populated Big Ben region where the Florida panhandle curves into the peninsula.

The result could be a big blow to a state still dealing with lingering damage from last year's Hurricane Ian.

The National Weather Service in Tallahassee said Adelia an unprecedented event since no major hurricane on record has ever passed through the bay abutting the Big Ben.

Hurricanes are measured on a five category scale, with a category five being the strongest.

A category three storm is the first on the scale considered a major hurricane.

The National Weather Center says catastrophic damage will occur during category four storm.

Yeah, my mother and sister live in that area, and so they've had to evacuate from where they live

because they're in the flood zones.

And so my sister checked into a hotel in Tampa yesterday.

My mother who lives in a nursing home was moved to another facility in Bradenton.

And so now they're just going to kind of sit and watch and wait with the next 24 hours

bring in the main concern for at least my family is flooding.

Right.

My cousin also Jamie, she lives like right next to the water.

Oh man.

They're out of there and they're expecting.

They're street floods even when it rains.
