Good morning in the news this morning.

The first of two tropical storms heading towards Louisiana has made

landfall. Marco made landfall near the mouth of the Mississippi River Monday evening around 7 p.m.

with maximum sustained winds of 40 miles per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Tropical storm level winds were expected to subside as Marco moved along the coast of Louisiana

over the course of the night, though the heavy rains were forecasted along portions of north-central Gulf Coast through the night.

Hurricane warnings were discontinued for the Louisiana coast as the storm continued to weaken.

A tornado watch remained in effect for portions of Florida, the Panhandle, and southwestern Georgia until midnight.

Flash flood watches also remain in effect for Mobile

Alabama and the central Florida panhandle. Laura, a different storm is just 48 hours behind Marco.

That's a tropical storm and it continued to batter portions of Cuba Monday with heavy rains and

areas of flash flooding. It strengthens slightly from Monday afternoon with

maximum sustained winds of 65 miles per hour. A tropical storm warning was issued for the Florida

Keys as Laura passed through Monday night. Once Laura emerges over the Gulf of Mexico Monday night,

environmental conditions, they're saying could become favorable for possible rapid intensification.

Laura could become a category three hurricane on Tuesday and into Wednesday with wins over 100 miles per hour.
