Good morning in the news this morning.

A teenager was shot in the head while playing basketball in the tow,

a nice town section of the city. It happened just before 9 p.m. on the 1900 block of West

Ontario Street at the Jerome Brown Playground. Investigators say officers found the 15-year-old

female victim lying face down under the net on the basketball court. She had been shot twice in the head

and was unresponsive. She was taken to the hospital where she's currently listed in extremely critical condition.

The entire incident was captured on cameras that are at the playground, and it's very tragic, said Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

It shows the 15-year-old female actively playing basketball, actually dribbling the basketball when she suddenly collapses when

she gets shot, he said. According to Small, there were at least 10 young adults on the basketball court when

the gunfire erupted. Police are searching for the juveniles as well as anyone else who may have

witnessed the shooting. Police say the shooting victim frequents the Jerome Brown playground and is

well known to the staff. They say she's a very nice girl and she lives about a half a block away from where she was shot.

There was no immediate word on what sparked the gunfire.

No arrests have been made at this time, but anyone with information is asked to contact police and you can call them at 215-686 tips.
