It is shark-infested. In fact, it's one of the reasons why Alcatraz was set up where it was. Of course, the fact that it was a removed island was part of the deal as well. When they have them swim in waters that are shark-infested or are obviously there's an issue, sometimes they'll have them swim in a very large cage that's being towed. I didn't see a cage.

I just saw somebody with a kayak next to him. Is that what it was? Oh, man, F that. Yeah, it was his dad and his coach. Yeah, in the safety of a boat. Yeah, but, I mean, they wanted this kid to do it on his own. He's not going to learn how to swim to Alcatraz if we don't let him do it. James Savage is his name.
