Good morning. In the news this morning, a tsunami warning was issued for parts of Alaska

after a large earthquake struck the peninsula.

The U.S. Geological Survey said the quake was magnitude 8.2 and hit 56 miles east-southeast of Perryville, Alaska, at about 815 Wednesday.

The quake was about 29 miles below the surface of the ocean, according to the USGS.

The U.S. National T tsunami Warning Center issued warnings for South Alaska and the Alaska Peninsula.

The tsunami warning issued for Hawaii has been canceled.

Two other earthquakes with preliminary magnitudes of 6.2 and 5.6 occurred in the same area within a half hour of the first one.

The Pacific tsunami warning center issued a notice, a notice that

the potential threat to Guam and the American Samoa was still under investigation. Based on all

available data, a tsunami may have been generated by this earthquake that could be destructive

on coastal areas even far from the epicenter. The quake should have been widely felt by almost everyone in the area

of the epicenter, and they're saying moderate damage is likely. So when I was in Alaska, we

landed in Anchorage, and, you know, they had the Good Friday, the famous Good Friday earthquake

that was like an 8.6, and they actually have a museum showing the damage from, I mean, those girders twisted.

Yeah.

And then what you do if you take a cruise, you go to Seward, which is a bay.

And when you go there, it was amazing because that Good Friday earthquake, I think, was in 1964,

up along the sides of the bay, up the cliff sides where there are trees petrified from how high the tsunami hit in the bay.

It's like an amazing eternal memorial to the devastating power of that storm.
