Good morning in the news this morning in earthquake, with a preliminary magnitude of 7.8 struck off the coast of Alaska early Wednesday morning. The earthquake was centered 60 miles south, southeast of Perryville, Alaska, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The quake is considered shallow at about six miles deep. shallow earthquakes often cause the most damage compared to the ones that are deeper regardless of the strength.

A tsunami warning was issued following the earthquake.

Sirens could be heard blaring in videos posted on social media as residents heated warnings
