The spotted lanternfly problem keeps getting bigger in our area, and scientists want everyone to kill them on site. What the fuck? They're very easy to spot

with their white dots and the red backs. Some people have thousands of spotted lanternflies

on their property and they just keep multiplying. What's your situation, Preston? Because I know you got

hammered. No problem at all.

We had, we had our trees, uh, injected with this stuff.

Oh, really? And I even see one spotted lantern fly yet.

Uh, I will pull up the name of the group that, uh, did that for us. It is a Tara Lawn Care. Oh, yeah, they're great. Yeah, they advertise here at the radio station. Fred and the gang over there, they did a treatment on our trees. Specifically for this. Yeah, for landing flies. Wow. And I haven't seen any of them. That affected because you had a big issue. Well, it must have helped because I will say, I mean, I'm seeing them all over the place. I've not seen one. And the last two years were really bad in my area. Sorry, Nick, you posted a picture. I remember a couple of years ago that was basically horrified me. Yeah. Well, they're still in like that not quite adult stage yet. So at this time of year, the lantern fires transition from the nymphs to the adults. Yeah, I saw in my neighborhood, there are a lot of trees that have a specific type of tape around the trunks. Yeah, I saw that. And so that's designed. And I guess you can inject the trees or use this tape in the trunk. Are they predominantly trees or bushes as well? And specific trees as well. They say that the woman at the Academy of Natural Science said that they're a plant hopper that feeds on vines, but they also go on to some of the trees like black walnuts and maples.

Oh, all right, because we don't have, we have one pear tree on our property.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with them in my yard, but I also, so I'm not an expert, but I was told, well, they don't, I don't have any trees in my yard that they like. All right. So researchers with the Academy of Natural Science at Drexel University say the real danger is the effect that the bug can have on the plants.
