morning, severe storms rigged havoc across the Philadelphia region Monday evening, triggering water rescues and leaving dozens of residents stranded. The storm prompted the

National Weather Service to issue a flash flood emergency urging drivers of the imminent threat.

Widespread and life-threatening flash flooding is occurring. This is an extremely dangerous situation.

The Weather Service set do not venture out

unless it is an emergency or to move to higher ground. The torrential rain flooded neighborhoods

throughout Bucks County. That's one of the hardest hit areas. The area's greatest impact by the

storm received six to 10 inches of rain in about three to four hours. So they said according to the

National Weather Service, this is estimated to be a

100-year flood, meaning each year there's about a 1% chance of seeing this much rain. So some of the

latest rainfall totals in Croydon, they saw 10.28 inches. Bristol Township saw 8.67 inches. Florence, New Jersey at 7.33. Beverly

at 5 inches, northeast Philadelphia, just under four inches. And then Levittown, 3.79 inches.

That is an enormous amount of water. When you're talking over 10 inches of water, so over what period of time, like I'm fairly short?

Three to four hours. So consider an annual rainfall, right? Yeah. For that area. I mean, that's a huge percentage of an annual rainfall in just a limited amount of time. And if that were wintertime and that were snow. Oh, my God. Forget it. Feet and feet and feet of feet. We would all be at the airport for a Florida trip. Yes, we would. Yes, we would. I don't know why I remember this, I guess, because it was kind of shocking when I heard it. But when I traveled to Malta years ago, they saw one to two inches of rain per year. Yeah. That's what they get all year long. and here got 10 inches last night in three to four hours. But it does occur to you in that particular area too. You have these creeks that become raging rivers. The second year have something like this. Yeah, exactly. The drainage systems can't handle it. Yeah. As drivers tried to get home from work, many like those traveling under the Route 13 bridge, became stranded.

Many other roadways across the region were also closed due to severe flooding. In Ben Salem,

6 ABC reported that marine units jumped into action to rescue residents from the flood waters.

Bugs County officials and the American Red Cross asked that anyone who could not return home Monday

evening due to the flooding to report to the Snyder Middle School in Ben Salem for further assistance. There were dozens of reports of water

rescues during the height of the storm, but no injuries, fortunately were reported.

An aide and cousin to a longtime Pennsylvania state senators facing criminal charges and was

served with a civil lawsuit after a brawl at a Montgomery County Golf Club.
