Good morning. In the news this morning, police say an off-duty corrections officer

turned the

tables during a carjacking late Monday opening fire on the suspect in Philadelphia's only section.

The 59-year-old corrections officer just left a friend's house when he was carjacked along the 200

block of East Roosevelt Boulevard at 11 p.m. The man told police that he got into his Toyota Avalon,

and before he knew it, a man wearing a surgical mask and a hoodie pulled him out of the car at gunpoint and got in.

That's when police say the corrections officer grabbed his weapon and fired off five shots towards the suspect who then sped away.

Police officers, within about 20 to 25 minutes, located the Toyota Avalon about a half a mile away in the 4,900 block of Bingham Street.

That vehicle was found with five bullet holes in it and also a lot of fresh blood inside the driver's seat

and some on the center consoles in Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small.

The bullets went through the driver's side window, door, and front windshield.

Police had a short time later, a man showed up at Temple University Hospital with gunshot wounds to both of his arms.

They believe he may be the person responsible for the robbery and carjacking.

The corrections officer was not injured during the carjacking, and the investigation is ongoing.

A tractor trailer found near Lakeland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, contained the bodies of 46 dead people, along with 16 others who have been taken to hospitals. Local officials in San Antonio said Monday evening. Officials said that federal, state, and local authorities believed that the bodies were those of migrants. Cross-border smuggling and human trafficking have been long-standing problems along the U.S.

Mexican border, but the death of 46 people represents a stunning loss of life.

KSA TV reported that ambulances and law enforcement officials, including agents from the U.S.

Customs and Border Protection, swarmed the scene.

San Antonio gets a whole new level of hot if you've ever been down there. I believe it. Yeah. Unbelievable. Then to think of people jammed into a truck like that, unbelievable. Well, and that's, I mean, and that's what they do. They try to cross the border and they shove them all in there and leave them and don't open the doors when they're crossing the border.
