Good morning in the news this morning.

Las Vegas Raiders player and former Penn State University defensive end, Carlassib came out as gay in an Instagram video Monday afternoon, making him the first openly gay active player in NFL history. I've been meaning to do this for a while now, but I finally feel comfortable enough to get it off my chest, Nassab said, in an Instagram video from his home in Westchester, Pennsylvania. I think that representation and visibility are so important.

I actually hope that one day videos like this and the whole coming out process are just not necessary, he continued.

But until then, I'm going to do my best and do my part to cultivate a culture that's accepting and compassionate.

Nassib said he is donating $100,000 to the Trevor Project, the nation's largest organization

for LGBT and youth suicide prevention.

Nassab was drafted by the Cleveland Browns in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft.

He played for the Browns from 2016 to 2017, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018 and 19 and was signed by the Raiders as an

unrestricted free agent in March 23rd of 2020.

Nassiv went to Malvern Prep and played for Penn State from 2011 to 2015.

I remember him talking about, you know, that there were a number of players that he encountered who were in the closet. And so hopefully this allows people to feel a little bit better, you know, come out and be a little bit more visible. There was even, I was telling, I was talking to Nick, there was a tweet from Warren Moon, who back in his day when he was playing, he was tweet. He's like, there were guys that were gay. Yeah. When I played, they just didn't feel comfortable, especially coming, especially then. Things are way different now. So it's been going on that long, even longer. Yeah, when you think about, like, you know, years ago I was watching this documentary. I started a press about this documentary about this horror star from years ago who was terrified.
