Drivers are bracing for a difficult Monday

morning commute in Philadelphia after an elevated section of I-95 collapsed following a

taker truck fire. Before the sun rose and commuters began seeking alternate routes to their

destination's heavy machinery could be seen hauling away some of the ruins of northbound 95. There

are tons and tons of steel and concrete that need to be removed from the area.

Officials said the very busy stretch of the road will be unstable for at least months.

The fire broke out at 6 a.m. Sunday underneath I-95 near the Cottonwood Avenue exit in the Toconi section of the city.

Fire officials said the flames were under control by Sunday

evening. Governor Josh Shapiro, who said Sunday evening, he planned to issue a disaster declaration

Monday to speed federal funds, said at least one vehicle was still trapped beneath the collapsed

roadway. We're still working to identify any individual or individuals who may have been caught in the

fire and the collapse, Shapiro said.

The tanker truck is thought to have been carrying 8,500 gallons of 87 octane fuel.
