Good morning in the news this morning.

Three Wilmington, Delaware police officers were injured by gunfire while responding to a call Wednesday night.

It happened around 1030 on the 2400 block of North Market Street.

6 ABC reported a massive police presence and dozens of officers with their guns drawn.

Wilmington police say all three injured officers were transported to area hospitals and are currently listed in stable condition.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been released. Residents between 23rd Street and

27th Street from West Street to Carter Street are being asked to shelter in place and await

further instruction from police. SWAT officers entered a living complex that appears to be the

center of the investigation. There was no immediate word on if any arrests were made.

The situation was still underway as of early Thursday, police said.

The Tokyo Olympics are 50 days away and a new problem arose for the one-year delayed games.

About 10,000 of the 80,000 unpaid volunteers for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics

told organizers they will not participate when the games open on July 23rd.

Organizers said some dropped out because of worries about COVID-19.

Few volunteers are expected to be vaccinated since most have no contact with athletes or other key personnel.

Only about 2 to 3 percent of Japan's general population is fully vaccinated in a very slow rollout

that is now just picking up some steam.

Conversely, the IOC expects at least 80% of the athletes and residents of the Olympic Village to be fully vaccinated.
