Good morning. In the news this morning, a Philadelphia police officer shot a man with special needs who often begs for change. Police say the detective involved in the incident thought the man had a gun and fired from inside his unmarked car, but at this point, police haven't recovered a weapon. The 28-year-old man identified by family as Joel Johnson was taken to Temple University Hospital in critical condition.

The family says that he often asks for money and doesn't carry a weapon.

It happened around 8.50 Monday on the 3,400 block of G Street.

The seven-year veteran of the force was on duty and traveling back to his headquarters at East Detectives.

The detective wasn't an unmarked vehicle in plain clothes and had just been processing a scene.

He was stopped at a

red light when police say the man emerged from between two parked cars. Police say he was shouting

something. It's unclear what and he approached the rolled up window on the detective's driver's side.

The detective believed that he saw a firearm in the mail's hands and that he was going to be robbed.

He discharged his weapon from inside the vehicle.

It's believed that he fired three times.

Johnson was struck once in the torso.

The investigation into this continues.

Dress Barn, the woman's clothing chain that's been around for nearly 60 years, is closing all 650 of its stores.

The company's chief financial officer, Stephen Taylor, said,

Dress Barn has not been operating at an acceptable level of profitability in today's

retail environment. Hell, even I've been in a dress barn. I mean, a woman at the time,

but it's okay. Its owner, a center retail group incorporated, says it wants to focus on its

more profitable brands. They also own Ann Taylor and Lane Bryant and other clothing stores. The company did not say when DressBarn will shut all of its stores. Dress Barn employs about 6,800 people.
