Good morning in the news this morning.

Delaware County's positive COVID-19 cases persist despite the decreases in other counties.

With Philadelphia significantly flattening the curve and noticing a drop in positive COVID-19 cases, Delaware County's numbers are stubbornly staying the same.

Data polled by 6 ABC found that on May 6, Philadelphia's 14-day total of new cases per 100,000 residents was 421 compared to Delaware

County's total of 285. Within two weeks, Philadelphia County totals dropped significantly to 247 cases

per 100,000 residents while Delaware County had 263 new cases. That's crazy, man. I live in Delco and I was talking to my

wife about this yesterday. I wasn't sure if there was like one part of Delco that was like

patting the numbers for other parts of Delco. I don't know how this is happening. So they give like

a little bit of a reason case. Delaware County vice chair, Dr. Monica Taylor Taylor said we are the

second most densely populated in the

state. We also have an aging population. We have a higher number of long-term care facilities,

and we have a high level of poverty in the county. Delaware County also has the highest mortality

rate compared to any county in the five-county region. In case also, this woman, Dr. Taylor,

she points out the county's lack of

health of a health department. So Delaware County is the only county that doesn't have its own

specified health department. Yeah, we used to. And then they got rid of it. And I think we were

relying on maybe Chester County or something like that. Yeah, there's some like, I don't know if

if it's specifically the health department, but there are some departments in Chester County that will take care of Delaware County if they don't have it.
