The New Jersey Forest Fire Service is working to contain a wildfire that is threatening

The flames were spotted around 1148 AM Tuesday off of Route 542 in River Road in Washington

Township. Officials said the flames consumed 257 acres and it's about 65% contained.

Old church road and River Road are still closed.

Route 542 has since reopened.

Those traveling on Route 542 are reminded to use caution while traveling as smoke conditions
