Good morning. In the news this morning, police shot and killed a suspect that was lunging at people with a long knife at a South Los Angeles shopping mall Tuesday evening authority set.

Fox News reported that footage from the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza about seven and a half mile southwest of downtown Los Angeles indicates at least four shots were fired.

The mall was in lockdown for several hours after police responded to the scene.

Witnesses told the station that the suspect had been threatening shoppers with a knife,

and one witness said the suspect did not comply to the officer's repeated requests to drop the weapon.

Officers first responded to the scene about 540.

Police fired at the suspect shortly after arriving on the scene.

Another witness said the suspect was trying to run away when he was shot.

An employee at the mall said she heard seven shots, which created a panic as patrons and employees ran for cover.

The knife was recovered at the scene.

The name of the suspect and further details were not immediately available.

The Facebook CEO formally apologized to Congress on Tuesday for mistakes that led to the Cambridge Analytica scandal and stressed that his company is rethinking its responsibility to users and society.

It's clear now that we didn't do enough to prevent these tools from being used for harm as well.

That goes for fake news, foreign interference in elections and hate speech as well as developers and data privacy, 33-year-old Zuckerberg said in an opening remark before a joint hearing

of the Senate Judiciary and Commerce Committee.
