In the news this morning, confirmed coronavirus cases shot past 1.2 million globally as the United States braces for the most challenging days ahead for many of its hardest hit cities.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health said Sunday 1,493 additional positive cases brings the state's total of COVID-19 patients to 11,510.

Of the patients who have tested positive to date, the age breakdown is as follows.

Nearly 1% are aged 0 to 4, 1% aged 5 to 12, and 1% age 13 to 18.
