We'll begin with this.

President of Vladimir Putin dramatically escalated east-west tensions by ordering Russian nuclear forces put on high alert following new

crippling Western sanctions that forced his central bank to sharply raise the key rate Monday

to save the ruble from collapse. The explosions and gunfire around the Ukrainian capital besieged by the Russian forces

appeared to subside overnight and the Russian military offered to allow residents to leave Kiev

via a safe corridor while it is beefed up for an onslaught on the capital.

Ukrainian president Vladimir Zelenskyy said early Monday that at least 16 children have been killed and 45 injured since the start of the invasion.

He also said under martial law, convicts will be released to help fight and that Ukraine should now be allowed to join the EU saying that Ukraine has clearly shown that it deserves it.

Ukraine has agreed to talks with Moscow,

and Zelensky's office said a delegation arrived on the border with Belarus.

It's unclear whether they'll lead to any breakthrough.

Zelensky's office said that it would demand an immediate ceasefire.

It wasn't immediately clear what the Kremlin was ultimately seeking,

either in the talks or more broadly from its war in Ukraine.

Western officials believe that Putin wants to overthrow Ukraine's government and replace it with a regime of his own, reviving Moscow's Cold War era influence.

A shooting in Clifton Heights, Pennsylvania, may have started as a road rage incident.

Happened on Sunday around 12.30 p.m. when two drivers collided at the busy intersection of Springfield Road and Oak Avenue.
