Good morning in the news this morning.

Tiger Woods is awake, recovering from significant injuries after his SUV struck a sign, crossed over a raised median and two oncoming lanes before it toppled down an embankment coming to a halt on its side. The airbags deployed. A sheriff's deputy poked his head through a hole in the windshield to see Woods, still wearing his seat belt, still in the driver's seat. The crash caused significant injuries all down his right leg and featured rods, pins, and screws

during what was described as a long surgical procedure at Harbor UCLA Medical Center.

So it just happened to be turning the channels yesterday.

I came across the shot of the vehicle overturned.

Yeah.

So Tiger Woods, and I'm like, oh, in a second I'm going to hear Tiger Woods is dead. You looked at that record. Oh, yeah. Holy crap. Yeah, the car was mangled. A statement on his Twitter account said that he was awake, responsive, and recovering. I will say that it's very fortunate that Mr. Woods was able to come out alive, said Carlos Gonzalez, the deputy from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, who was the first on the scene after a neighbor called 911. And I think we have a clip of the sheriff speaking about it. Okay. Here we. Wait, the sheriff or? I have a deputy. Okay. Deputy. Yeah.

Okay. Well, we had a fire chief and a deputy. You can play both of them. Here's deputy Gonzalez. Here we go. When I arrived on the scene, Mr. Woods was a seat in the driver's seat. I made contact with him and I ensured that he was able to speak to me. I asked him what his name was. He told me his name was Tiger. and that moment I immediately recognized him.

sure he was oriented. He seemed as though he was lucid and calm. And then the fire chief also made a

statement. All right, and here's that. Upon arrival of the scene of the incident,

a resource system personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department

observed the person trapped, extricated by the Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel.

The person was packaged at the incident, a stable condition with serious injuries,

and because of the fact that they needed to be extricated,

they were transported to Harbor UCLA Hospital.
