Good morning in the news this morning. As President-elect Joe Biden's terms begin at noon today,

it will be an inauguration day for the history books. Kamala Harris will officially be the first female vice president and the first black and South Asian woman to take the role. There's a pandemic raging across the country and the outgoing commander-in-chief is being impeached because of a deadly riot at the U.S. Capitol and the date is a palindrome that won't happen for another

thousand years. Not in modern times has an inauguration been staged in the middle of such domestic

turmoil. But while the 59th inaugural ceremonies will be much smaller because of security concerns

and health risks, Biden and Harris will take the oath of the office of the Capitol's West Front.

The same day Biden is sworn in,

he will introduce immigration legislation that will include an eight-year pathway to citizenship

for nearly 11 million immigrants living in the United States without legal status, along with

expanding refugee admissions and an enforcement plan that includes deploying technology to patrol

the border. President Donald Trump has issued

pardons to his former strategist Steve Bannon and rapper Lil Wayne, among 143 people awarded

pardons and commutations in his final hours in office. The list issued by the White House includes

names unfamiliar to the American public, regular people who have spent years languishing in prison,

as well as politically connected friends and allies like those he's pardoned in the past. It includes 73

pardons and 70 commutations. Bannon has been charged with duping thousands of investors who

believed their money would be used to fulfill Trump's chief campaign promise to build a wall

along the southern border. Instead, he allegedly diverted over a million dollars paying a salary to one campaign official and personal expenses for himself. Wednesday's

list includes its share of high-profile defendants. Among them were rappers Loewein and Kodak Black,
