big video released by Ford setting out their UEV platform. This is how Ford says as an established

carmaker, they will fight off the Chinese innovation, the competition, how they'll make a profit on a $30,000 pickup electric truck.

Ford's unveiled what it calls the Universal EV Platform, UEV, and CEO Jim Farley, isn't being subtle about the ambition.

He described it as one of the most

audacious and important projects in Ford's history and took a pointed swipe at rivals,

saying Ford is done watching the competition take good college tries at affordable EVs.

The first vehicle built on the platform will be a mid-size electric pickup truck.

Don't call it an electric maverick, whatever you do.

A plan for 2027 and targeting a price starting at $30,000.

And there's obviously caveats in that, even though they've not said this.

There's probably going to be a range of battery sizes.

Obviously, that's the smallest one.

There'll be a range of trims. Ford says it'll

be made at the Louisville Assembly plant in Kentucky. Aerodynamics sit at the heart of Ford's pitch.

The company says it's recruited more than half of its aeroteam from the world of Formula One and claims

the new truck is 15% more aerodynamically efficient than the nearest pickup on the market.
