We'll start it off, as always, with the transactions, injuries, news and notes from around

the league, kicking things off of the bad news.

As Josh Smith was placed on the 10-day IL with a glute strain, you don't normally see

glute strain.

I've looked at so many injuries over the past few years, and this is the first glute strain

that I recall, but Smith has a timeline that is

unclear for his return. So Smith will be out at least the next 10 days. Justin Foske,

former Top Ranger's prospect, was recalled for the minors in a corresponding move. But Ezekiel

Duran will likely replace Smith at the Keystone position. Next, we have starting pitcher Stephen

Matt's who is placed on the 15-day aisle with elbow inflammation. It's expected to be a minimum

stay for the left-handed Stephen Matt's. Griffin Jacks is entering the rotation and Jesse

Schultons will continue to see bulk work out of the pen, so there won't need to be a direct

Next, third baseman Ramon Arias was placed on the 10-day aisle with elbow lateral epicondylitis.

That's another one I have never seen before. This is apparently a continuation of an injury that's affected Arias since spring training.

Thomas Agassi was recalled from the minors in a corresponding move,

and he'll replace Arias on the short side of a third base platoon.

Next catcher, Yainer Diaz was placed on the 10-day IL with an oblique strain.

Diaz will likely miss more than the minimum time as oblique strains are always

deadly for baseball players because of the requirement for rotational muscles, which is basically
