Let's dive into everything baseball related from Wednesday, May 13th.

We'll start it off, as always, with the transactions, injuries, news and notes from around the league,

kicking things off with the bad news as catcher.

Francisco Alvarez was placed on the 10-day aisle with a torn meniscus.

Alvarez will require surgery to repair his knee and will miss at least six to eight weeks of the Mets without their opening

day catcher for about two months. Luis Torenz will take over behind the plate for Alvarez

in the time being. And catcher Hayden Sanger was recalled for the minors in a corresponding

move and will be the Mets backup catcher to Luis Turenz.

Next starting pitcher Robbie Snelling was placed on the 15-day IL with a UCL sprain.

He and the club will weigh the possibility of season-ending surgery.

But regardless, Snelling will miss multiple weeks, if not months.

It's tough news for Snelling, who is one of the game's top pitching prospects

and just made his MLB debut. So going to be without Snelling for quite a while.

Starting pitcher Braxton Garrett is expected to be recalled from the miners to replace

Snelling in the rotation. He will start today in Minnesota. In a corresponding move to Slling's aisle placement was closing picture Pete Fairbanks being activated from the 15-day aisle after missing time with nerve irritation.

Fairbanks will return to being the Marlins every day and full-time closer.

Next, relief pitcher Drew Pomeranz was placed on the 15-day IL with elbow inflammation.

The timeline for Pomeranz's return is unclear.
