Welcome back to another episode of the first pitch podcast brought to by Perless.com. My name is Jake Crumpler, and I'll be your host for this edition of the pod. We'll start things off as always with the transactions,

injuries, news and notes from around the league,

kicking things off with the bad news as catcher Ryan Jeffers was placed on the seven-day

I.L with a concussion.

It looks like Mickey Gasper will split catching duties with Johnny Parada

for the twins until Jeffers returns from the concussion

IL.

In terms of transactions, starting pitcher Brandon Sprope, the Mets number five prospect,

according to MLB pipeline, was selected from the miners to make his MLB debut on Sunday

in Cincinnati.

Sprope tossed six innings, allowing three hits and three-hunt runs, walking four while

striking out seven, inducing six whiffs with 26% CSW across 88 pitches, relying heavily on his performance

on balls in play. He had a pretty deep arsenal, and he's definitely going to be fighting

with Jonah Tong and Nolan McLean to retain a rotation spot for the Mets when Kodi

Senga eventually returns from a minor league stint, but it looks like Sprope will get the

Rangers in his next major league start. In terms of news, outfielder Alec Berluson is expected

to be activated from the 10-day IL today. He has been out with wrist inflammation, and Berluson will take over every day in left field

for the Cardinals seeing some time at first base as well, which will force Lars Noop Bar to

move around the outfield from left to right and center, which should take some time away
