Welcome back to another episode of the first pitch podcast brought to you by pitcherless.com. My name is Jake Crumpler and I'll be your host for this edition of the pod. We'll start it off as always with the transactions, injuries, news and notes from around

the league, kicking things off with the bad news as catcher K. Bear Ruiz was placed on the

10-day IL with the head contusion and injury he suffered after being hit by a foul ball while

playing catcher. In Ruiz's absence, Riley Adams is expected to be the National's everyday catcher,

while Drew Millis was recalled from the miners to be the backup to Riley Adams behind the plate.

And our other aisle placement involves outfielder Corbyn Carroll,

who is placed on the 10-day IEL with a fractured wrist.

He was hit by a pitch last week, and he seemed fine for a while, but now he's likely

due for an extended absence.

Carol could be out through the All-Star break.

And a corresponding move, Jake McCarthy was recalled from the minors, and he's expected to

see a lot of time in right field, but we've got a lot of left-handed hitters on the

Diamondbacks Club. hitters on the Stimbeck's club. So we'll see a lot of mixing and matching and platooning against right-handed and left-handed pitchers. In terms of transactions,

outfielder Chandler Simpson was recalled from the minors by the raise. He is expected to be

their everyday center fielder moving forward. That was the case before and then he got

option to the minor. So maybe this is for good. Jake Mangum moved from center field to left field, which forced Christopher Morel into a bench

role.

Next, we have starting pitcher Michael McGreevy, who is called from the minors to start versus

the Cubs for the Cardinals.
