Easter, some feasts are not. Well, the feast of today, St. Mark,

the Evangelist, is not one of those that is transferred to, say, next week or the week after. So,

poor St. Mark doesn't get his feast celebrated because of Easter. I'm sure he's okay with it in heaven,

but let's talk about St. Mark, the evangelist, anyway. And most of what we know about him comes

directly from the New Testament. He's usually identified with the Mark of Acts 12. When St. Peter

escaped from prison, it was to the home of Mark's mother that Peter went to and found some safety.

Paul and Barnabas, we know, took Mark along on the first missionary journey,

but for some reason Mark returned alone to Jerusalem. It's also evident from Paul's refusal to let Mark

accompany him on the second journey, despite Barnabas's insistence, that Mark had somehow displeased Paul.

But because Paul later asks Mark to visit him in prison, we can assume that the trouble,
