Born in 1053 in southern France, he was raised by devout parents,

his father a soldier who fought hard not just in battle, but to keep his troops morally upright.

That same father eventually became a monk inspired by his own son. Hugh himself grew up bright and faithful. He became a canon known for both his learning and virtue,

and was eventually appointed Bishop of Grenoble. He was only 27. And he didn't waste any time either.

and within two years, everyday people noticed the change.
