Lately, I've been doing some sort of short meditations.

And last week I was telling me about this road trip we took from Austin to Wichita and back.

We're gone for about two days.

Didn't seem like the sexiest or most exciting of trips. Certainly

wasn't, you know, Disney World or Disneyland or the beach. But our kids just had this

amazing time leaving the house, going to a hotel, riding in an elevator, and having room

service, and then going to a different zoo in a city that they didn't live in. So listen to that

the experience. But anyways, while I was in Wichita, I gave a talk at Wichita State University

to this business association. And one of the questions I got in the Q&A was about goals

that I have. What goals do I have? And it was obviously a business talk. So I think

they meant like professionally, what are my goals? And one of the things that I talked about was that I

actually try not to have goals. I try not to have goals for myself as a writer professionally.

And I try not to have really strict goals or ideas for my kids. I feel like that's their life.

They're going to decide what they want to do with it.
