The head of Instagram has just announced that it's pausing a planned version of the social media software aimed at those younger than 13.

The development comes hard on the heels of critical reporting in the Wall Street Journal

which unearthed internal documents that suggest the Facebook-owned company was aware the social media service caused anxiety

and mental health issues in teenage girls.

In other news, Apple is bringing its 3D maps to more cities within the Apple Maps app, including London, LA, New York, and San Francisco.

The experience, launching with iOS 15, follows several years of investment in Apple's mapping platform to make the app more competitive

with the market leader, Google Maps. This has included not only the addition of 3D maps,

like those arriving now to major markets, but also overall more detailed maps, improved transit features,

AR viewing modes, and more. And TikTok announced in a blog post that 1 billion people use Tik-Toc every month. That means that on this big rock

and space that we call home, about one in seven and a half people are regularly watching short form videos of dancing, dangerous milk crate challenges,

and even actual educational content.
