Microsoft backs open AI. A vehicle scanning startup raises funding

and Amazon will open new robotic fulfillment centers in Ohio.

First up, Microsoft has invested $1 billion in Open AI in a new multi-year partnership.

Open AI was founded three years ago by Elon Musk, Sam Altman, and others with the aim of performing research and development that steers

artificial intelligence in a friendlier direction. Its deal with Microsoft as an

exclusive computing partnership with new AI technologies built for Microsoft's Azure platform

and existing open AI services ported over.
