here's your daily crunch. The global chip shortage isn't going anywhere until late

next year meaning we're likely going to see some investment in new chip fab capacity.

Like the news today that Bosch opened a $1.2 billion chip manufacturing facility in Germany,

much like the AI market is cleaving along geopolitical fault lines.

In time, more countries are going to want to have domestic chip-fab capabilities as a form of self-reliance.

Now let's see what's going on in the world of startups.

Astra, the space launch startup, is scooping up electric propulsion maker Apollo Fusion.

Electric propulsion systems are effective at moving spacecraft from lower to higher orbits even to the moon.

Under the terms of the deal, Astra will buy Apollo for $30 million in stock and $20 million in cash

for a total purchase price of $50 million.

The medical industry is sitting on a huge trove of data, but in many cases it can be a challenge

to realize the value of it because that data is unstructured and not all in one spot.
