First up, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development hit Facebook this morning with charges of housing discrimination.

The filing states that Facebook has violated the Fair Housing Act through its ad targeting tools,

which allows sellers to limit listing based on categories like race, sex, and nation of origin.

In a statement offered to Tech Crunch, Facebook said it was surprised by the decision.

A spokesperson for the company went on to discuss significant steps taken to address the discrimination detailed in HUD's filing.
