Microsoft has seized control of a number of websites that were being used by a Chinese government-backed hacking group to target organizations in 29 countries, including

the US.

Microsoft's Digital Crimes Unit said that a federal court in Virginia had granted an order

allowing the company to take control of the websites and

redirect the traffic to Microsoft servers.

In other news, as Facebook transitions its corporate branding and organizes around a metaverse future, a number of high-profile

execs have been leaving the company. Last week, former messenger boss and current cryptosar

David Marcus announced he was leaving at the end of the year.

Now, Meta's current chief of the messenger division Stan Chudnovsky announced he will be

leaving Meta at some point in Q2 of next year.

And under a new CEO, Twitters made an acquisition that speaks to what it might be looking

at developing down the line to diversify away further from ad-based open-ended consumer chatter.
