It's a hard time right now to follow Iowa State football.

Four losses in a row, and there's no moral victories for a program that has completely raised the standard in Ames.

They've been to two Big 12 championships.

They won 11 games last year.

Iowa State football is long past moral victories. That's where I'm at. And one thing that Matt Campbell

has always talked about, and it's honestly a lesson that can be shared in all aspects of life,

is he wants players he can lose with. Anyone can go to work the next day when things are going

well. Anyone can go to practice and practice hard when you're 5 and 0. How do you do it when the team

has lost four in a row? How can you do it when you lose two in a row at home and two very

winnable games? John Haycock has seen that his team is a team that he

can lose with and get better with. When things aren't going good, you know, I think human nature

is selfish and it's got to be somebody else's fault. And I think the blessing for me coming in

this building for 10 years, I've never walked in here after a tough

loss and felt like everybody in this building to a person felt like man they were responsible

that's not everywhere and I've been blessed to being a lot of locker rooms like that and

coaches rooms like that and coaches rooms like that.

And, you know, I just feel like, you know, I think you walk in this building on a Sunday after a tough loss.
