is stepping away. John Haycock announces that he's retiring from football after 43 seasons of coaching.

The professor is the inventor of the 335 defense and the winningest assistant

coach in program history being a key part in all 73 wins in his decade tenure at Iowa State.

Haycock's unit ranked top three in the Big 12 in scoring defense each season from 2017 to

2023. The professor leaves a prominent impact on Iowa State

forever. Hacock said in a statement, quote, I'm certainly thankful and grateful that God chose me to be

the defensive coordinator at Iowa State University for 10 years. Ames Iowa State the team in

Cyclone Nation. Man, we all did some special stuff together.
