Summary

How do you start your day out? Do you roll out of bed and let life dictate your plans, or do you do things every day that set your intentions, your mind and your spirit up for whatever success means to you? Today Neil and I are sharing how we go about our daily routines, or dailies as we call them, why they're so important, how to get started with them, and what you'll get out of making dailies a priority. Time Stamps: [00:28] - Neil describes what his mornings looked like before he added structure to his days. [03:21] - What was Neil’s first introduction to dallies? [05:52] - Starting dailies reduces the feeling of being a frantic responder. You feel calmer facing the day. [07:51] - Are you seeing things with an eternal viewpoint? [10:43] - Be sincere and willing when a prompt comes to you. [13:02] - Corrine talks about how prompting can be completely different from what you expect or are looking for? [15:06] - Dailies provide a spiritual foundation for day to day life. [17:58] - You can have an improvised version of dailies. They come in handy when life is unpredictable. [20:28] - Corrine shares her hack for checking if she is spiritually plugged into her day. [23:00] - Take inventory of each day. [25:53] - You can use a habit, routine, or ritual to replace habits you want to step away from. [28:28] - “It’s based off of actions.” [30:25] - Corrine shares the three-step-loop that builds habits. [32:20] - Neil talks about being honest with God during dailies to have a better start to the day. [35:35] - What works for one person doesn’t work for another person. Find what works for you. [37:48] - Spiritual actions become course correction for your day. [40:02] - Feel empowered to change things in your life. You are in charge of your life and routine. making dailies a priority. All right, this podcast is going to come out right after Christmas,

0:32.8

so I hope everyone had a really wonderful Christmas season and now we are heading into a new year

0:39.9

in a few days. So, Neil and I thought it would be cool to talk about dailies because that's something

0:45.7

that we've both taken on as a practice that really has been life changing. I know that sounds

0:52.8

kind of cheesy and cliché, but Neil, let's start with you and the story I think here is

1:01.2

the difference between what life was like before you did dailies and you've been super open

1:06.1

about your struggles with pornography addiction and then what life looks like now. So maybe we go

1:12.0

all the way back to just describing before you started your practice of doing dailies,

1:19.7

what a typical morning usually looked like for you. Yeah, I think for me, there really wasn't a

1:27.4

ton of structure, just in general. I mean, it was kind of like waking up and just getting

1:33.8

going and getting things done and trying to, I don't know, you're just kind of tipping into the day

1:39.6

really not with a plan. I wasn't a great planner in general, like I would plan, but I wasn't

1:46.5

amazing at it. It's still not my favorite. I buy just the need to be more effective in life

1:53.8

and to manage more responsibility and especially most importantly with recovery, with a spiritual

2:01.0

connection, it requires that daily kind of planning. So really, really loose, just kind of flying

2:09.2

by the seat of my pants, just waking up and okay, let's get going and really spiritually, I mean,

2:16.4

I would pray in a different point throughout the day, but it wasn't like a really consistent thing.

2:22.2

So on a more just granular level, like explain or just describe like a typical morning, like you
